High Strength Gratings. 
White Oak Metals, Inc., is pleased to introduce the Type "K" fabricated grate and frame assembly for drainage projects where heavy wheel loads may be a concern. (Currently being used on the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport runways.)

The Type “K” assembly consists of a frame which measures 4’0" x 2’11" x 4 3/8” high, and a grate which is 3’2” x 2’1” x 4” and consists of ½” x 4” slats, and ½” x 2” stiffeners. 

These frames and covers are a “grate” alternative to the traditional cast iron assemblies you’re use to and we’ve got the testing to prove it. A sample of our welded assembly has been tested by an independent testing agency with 18,000 lbs center point loading applied. The results were: “no signs of distress of the grate or frame were observed such as visible deflection, cracking, or permanent deformation”, the calculated equivalent would be a uniform load of 200lbs/PSI. These assemblies are available hot dip galvanized for corrosion resistance.
